Dr Marisa Taylor is a Consultant Dermatologist at Epsom & St. Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust (ESTH) in the United Kingdom. She studied medicine (MBBS) at the Mona Campus of the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica graduating with honours in pharmacology, pathology and microbiology. She completed her Dermatology training in South Wales following a Masters and MD in Dermatology at Cardiff University. She was the Undergraduate Lead and an Honorary Senior lecturer at Imperial College London before moving on to her current role at ESTH where she is the Biologics Lead.
Dr Taylor's special interests are in medical education, leadership and skin of colour. She is the Co-Founder and Consultant Lead for the Skin of Colour Training UK which aims to provide excellence in educating healthcare professionals on the diagnosis and management of skin conditions in darker skin types, hence reducing health inequalities in these groups.
She is the External Examiner for the MSc in Clinical Dermatology at Cardiff University, a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians London, the Royal Society of Medicine and the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology. Dr Taylor is a member of the British Association of Dermatologists, the Dowling Club as a past Co-secretary, the British Society of Dermatologic Surgeons and the Caribbean Dermatology Association. In her spare time, she enjoys eating out, volunteering and meeting friends, old and new.
