Providing Excellence in
Skin of Colour Education
Welcome to Skin of Colour Training UK
Our mission is to equip those who see and treat skin conditions to do so expertly, regardless of its colour, in our multi-ethnic society through excellence in skin of colour education and training and joining our global colleagues in advancing knowledge through skin of colour research.

Over the past century, globalisation has led to a change in UK demographics leading to an ethnic makeup of 85.42% white and 14.58% non-white in the 2011 census. We expect the 2021 census data, yet to be published, to show an even greater non-white proportion of the population.

Dermatology training needs to adapt to this change to keep its practitioners safe and relevant. A survey in 2020 found that 86% of dermatologists felt inadequately trained in managing hyperpigmentation. Clearly, there is a learning need.

We introduced the Skin of Colour Training UK Meeting to fulfil that need.
